The North Carolina Problem Gambling Program (NCPGP) is pleased to offer workshops, training series, and online modules focusing on the prevention, treatment, and recovery of problem gambling. The NCPGP, along with the NC Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Use Services, TELUS Health, and UNC Chapel Hill School of Social Work/Behavioral Health Springboard work together to provide these opportunities both online and in-person.


Dealing with Problem Gambling Webinar Series
These beginner level webinars are intended to educate NCPGP Providers, as well as other behavioral health providers, about risk factors, incidence rates, impact, and treatment strategies for working with people with problematic gambling behavior.


Problem Gambling – Sure Bet Series
In this training, topics of problem and gambling disorder, gambling counseling theory and practice, regulations and ethical issues, and financial aspects of remuneration will be addressed.  Completion of this training will meet one of the requirements necessary for the NCPGP Provider Registry.  Participation in this training does not assure that a provider will be selected for the NCPGP Registry, but it is a required component of becoming an NCPGP provider.


Gambling: The Hidden Addiction Peer Support Specialist Training
This 4-part course provides peer support specialists with: an introduction to gambling disorder and corresponding risk factors and warning signs; a recognition of the co-occurrence of substance use, mental health disorders, and gambling disorder; an understanding of the experience of gambling disorders for the individual and their loved ones; and an application of recovery as it relates to gambling disorders. 


Introduction to Prevention and Treatment for Youth Problem Gambling and Gaming
This training provides child and adolescent mental health therapists and school-based therapists with an introduction to youth problem gambling, screening tools and treatment pathways for problem gambling, information on co-occurring disorders including the gaming and gambling convergence, and basic information on gaming addiction.
